Tom's Halls originated in 2007 as a test project to develop a simple 2D platform game engine using Javascript, CSS, and strict XHTML. I also wanted to emulate the feel of some classic 80's platform games such as Jet Set Willy, Montezuma's Revenge, and Dynamite Dan, and to see how far I could take this in a web context at the time.
The original version featured only 2 screens. Eventually, however, I was harassed into advancing the game further....
